FBI searching for man who wore cowboy hat while robbing armored truck driver in El Segundo
Federal investigators are asking for help tracking down a man in a cowboy hat who robbed an armored truck driver at gunpoint in El Segundo last month.
The FBI in Los Angeles released photos from surveillance footage of the man who pulled a gun on the truck driver inside a bank at 835 N. Pacific Coast Highway on Feb. 21.
After robbing the driver, the man fled outside and got into the passenger seat of a waiting maroon Ford Taurus.
Officials did not say how much money the man got away with. They also didn't give a description of a getaway driver.
The FBI said the robber was wearing an orange reflective vest and a blue, wrap-around cloth mask on his face.
Photos that officials released showed the man wearing sunglasses and a tan leather cowboy hat with dark brown stitching. The photos show him clutching an athletic bag in one hand and gripping a black semi-automatic handgun in the other.
The man was described as being in his 40s and standing about 5-foot-11 with a thin build. He had moles just behind his right ear, witnesses told investigators.
Anyone with information about the man should contact the FBI at (310) 477-6565.
