The three words I use to describe Cycology jerseys are colorful, performance, and fun. Their designs are unique, and you’ll surely find one that speaks to your colorful inner self. Recently the company sent me their Aloha women's long-sleeve jersey to test and review. A woman could use some warm weather and sandy beach vibes this time of year.

The jersey fits your curves with its close-to-the-body and women's specific cut. The fitted design meant I needed to size up, like with the short sleeve jersey I reviewed a few weeks back. However, the polyester / Lycra blend provided plenty of 4-way stretch, so there's no binding or restricted movement on or off the bike. The inside lining is next to skin soft fabric that keeps you warm and provides moisture management.

I tested this jersey on several rides, layered under a light jacket in temperatures in the 30s. I was comfortable and dry. I’m looking forward to testing it without a jacket when temperatures warm up into the 50s.

This jersey has all the features you’d look for, including a full zip front for easy on / off for nature breaks when wearing bibs. There are three rear pockets, plus a zippered side pocket. The back hem has silicone grippers to prevent it from creeping up when you’re in the drops. Finally, there is well-placed reflective piping in several places, including the front and back panel seams plus on the pockets. The reflective piping is worked into the garment design so well that you barely notice it until a light shines on it.

When you have such a colorful jersey, pair it with a great pair of black bibs. It's the female cyclist's equivalent to the little black dress. See my review below.

Cycology's logo black bib shorts deliver the same quality and comfort as the other pieces I’ve tested from this company. There is just the right amount of compression, stretch, and body contoured panels for the perfect supportive fit. The mesh bib straps and back panel add comfort, ventilation, and breathability.

The 10″ inseam gives plenty of leg coverage and muscle support, while the wide leg band with laser-cut elasticized grippers keeps shorts secure, and there's no sausage leg. Down the side of both legs is the Cycology logo, which is quite stealthy as it is black on black. There are also reflective elements on both legs for better visibility by drivers in low-light conditions.

I tested these bibs indoors on the trainer and outdoors under tights. This gave me a good idea about how the company's IconQuality chamois performed and its breathability. Overall, the chamois was comfortable, but I found too much padding in the front portion and put too much pressure on my soft tissue.

I reached out to a couple of my friends who ride with Cycology shorts, not bibs. One friend likes the chamois and the extra padding in the front, especially using aero bars. Another friend said it was a good chamois for rides up to 40 miles. I tend to agree with her, as I started to feel discomfort around the 35-40 mile mark. Since chamois are incredibly personal, and anatomy differs from woman to woman, you could easily have a different opinion.

Unfortunately, the company does not accept returns on worn items but may want to consider adopting a ride-and-try policy.

The bottom line is that these bib shorts are figure flattering and comfortable to wear. The added feature of UPF 50+ gives you added protection on your sunny summer rides.
